Congressman Darrell Issa discusses the Army National Guard enlistment bonus scandal

Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter is promising to do the right thing by soldiers caught up in The Pentagon military bonus fiasco. Carter says he is going to look into the scandal and resolve it.

In the wake of pretty much unanimous outrage, The Pentagon just announced on Wednesday morning that they were suspending the military bonus repayments.

10-years ago the California National Guard gave out bonuses to soldiers - to get them to re-enlist for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A lot of veterans have been making regular payments - very difficult payments, with the suspension of the program. So what happens now?

Congressman Darrell Issa was one of the lawmakers calling for a blanket waiving of the debts.

He joined us on the phone Wednesday morning from San Diego.
