Concerned parents warn of man exposing himself 'possibly putting children at risk'

Parents who live near Canoga Park have reported two separate incidents involving a man who they say was acting indecent in public near a school, possibly putting children at risk.

FOX 11's Stephanie Stanton spoke to those parents who caught the man on tape. They say he should be charged with a crime.

Witness Ben Gamon says he was driving and saw what he thought was a homeless man reaching into a fanny pack but quickly realized it wasn't a fanny pack and saw the man pleasuring himself.

Gamon saw the man near Fallbrook Ave. and Vanowen St. Monday morning while driving his kids to school.

“It is disturbing. It’s been three days and we’re still shocked,” Gamon said.

Another witness, Brittany, says she was in a parking lot near Sherman Way and Topanga Canyon Boulevard Monday morning dropping her son off at school when she was approached by the same man.

“I turned around and he was fondling himself. So I started yelling at him and he walked away. So I thought he left,” Brittany told FOX 11.

But in fact the man didn’t go far; surveillance video provided by a school shows the man circling back and was watching her.

Brittany soon alerted the police and posted about the incident on a Facebook crime watch group, and that’s when she realized she wasn’t alone.

Gamon also notified police about the man and his wife posted about it on Facebook as well. These concerned parents just want to get that man off the streets.

One of the incidents happened outside of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School. School officials alerted parents telling them to be cautious and issued a statement that said in part:

"Our students' safety is our top priority, and we will continue to inform parents any time we learn. Of a situation regarding student safety.”

FOX 11 also reached out to LAPD but have not responded yet.
