Coast Guard suspends search for possible downed aircraft
San Pedro, CA (USCG) - The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a possible downed aircraft near Redondo Beach Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
The Coast Guard has ended their search after both a Coast Guard helicopter aircrew and boatcrew successfully completed multiple search patterns in the area with no indications of any aircraft in distress.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a possible emergency alert notification from an aircraft's emergency location transmission beacon approximately 2 miles north of Redondo Beach on May 13, 2017, at approximately 11:45 a.m.
The Coast Guard immediately launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to search the area.
Baywatch Redondo and the Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted in the search.
