City making changes to address Waze traffic app concerns

Echo Park neighbors say there has been an increase in traffic and accidents on some steep streets in their neighborhood, and they are blaming it on the Waze app.

The Department of Transportation says they are making a few streets one-way, according to the Eastsider:

The changes include:

Baxter Street between Allesandro Street and North Alvarado Street, which is expected to be turned into a one-way going westbound.

Baxter Street between North Alvarado Street and Lake Shore Avenue, which is expected to be turned one-way street going eastbound.

Fargo Street between Allesandro Street and North Alvarado Street, which is expected to be one-way street westbound.

Cove Avenue between Cerro Gordo Street and Lake Shore Avenue, which is expected to be a one-way street eastbound.

Two stop signs are expected to go up on Lake Shore Avenue at Baxter Street, which will make the intersection a four-way stop.

Right turns will also not be allowed from Alvarado Street onto Baxter Street between 4 and 7 p.m. on weekdays.
