LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - You don't need to be a mathematician to celebrate Pi Day.
National Pi Day falls on March 14 (3/14), which resembles 3.14159 -- or the common approximation of the mathematical constant pi (π). Pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
March 14 also happens to be the birthday of scientist Albert Einstein, and many enjoy commemorating the special day by eating edible pies like pizza, dessert pies and pot pies.
Here are some deals happening Thursday around Southern California to celebrate the never-ending number.

This Long Beach restaurant is throwing an all-day patio party with a pie-eating contest, $3.14 sangria and slices of Key Lime Pie for $3.14. The first 50 guests to say "Pie is the answer" will get a complementary Key Lime Pie shot with a souvenir glass.
Key Lime minis, Pie Hole bundles of four and the Einstein Blue Lemonade will be on sale at $3.14. Guests who make a $5 purchase can enter a raffle for various prizes, one being a whipped cream pie in the face.
For Pi Day, all slices of Pie Not's sweet pies will be $3.14. In addition, they're offering 14 percent off any order over $20 for teachers with an ID. Additionally, anyone who can recite the first 14 numbers of pi by heart gets a free cup of coffee. Pie Not will be doing a Pi Day raffle giveway of gift cards, tumblers, t-shirts and retail coffee.
Guests can buy one thin crust pizza and get a second one for $3.14, and members of the Pie Life loyalty club get a $2 reward for their next visit. There will also be a cheese-pulling photo contest on Instagram for the chance to win a $50 gift card by using the #perfectpieologypull hashtag.
