CDC: Chicken causes more illness than any other food

(FOX 11) - It's dinnertime and as you take your next bite of your chicken dinner here's something you'll want to chew on.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say chicken causes the most outbreaks of illness of any food.

The CDC looked at the causes of food-borne disease outbreaks between 2009 and 2015.

During that time, there were more than 57-hundred outbreaks of illness traced to food and it was chicken that made the most people sick.

Experts say more regulation is needed to address salmonella contamination in poultry.
