California Dept. of Health issues safety guidelines for protection against cell phone radiation

For the first time ever, the California Department of Health is issuing safety guidelines for cell phones on how to protect yourself from radiation.

Cell phones emit radiation when they send and receive signals from cell towers.

Some scientists and health officials believe that long-term cellphone use may have a negative effect on your health.

A spokesperson for the state health department says that while the science on that is still evolving, they want to acknowledge the concerns.

The guidelines suggest simple steps like not keeping your phone in your pocket and moving it away from your bed at night to reduce radiation exposure.
