California assemblyman wants to make all public single-stall bathrooms available to all genders
Under a proposed bill, single occupancy bathrooms wouldn't be marked "men" or "women" any more, but instead would be "all gender" restrooms.
The idea is that it would make access easier for parents to take their children to the restroom, as well as making life simpler for disabled people who need assistance.
Assemblyman Phillip Ting says 'it's all about taking the controversy out of restrooms.'
Ting says the plan would also help accommodate transgender people who don't identify as specifically male or female.
