California Assembly shelves bill to extend alcohol sales at bars
LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - No additional late night partying for Californians, at least for now. The California Assembly was supposed to vote on Wednesday on a bill to possibly extend the last call time, but decided to shelve it. Senate Bill 905 also known as the Late Night Bar Bill, allows bars to sell alcohol past 2am until 4am in seven cities, and that does include Los Angeles. Participation would be up to the individual cities.
It does have the support of the mayors of those cities it would impact, include LA Mayor Eric Garcetti but LA city councilman Paul Koretz calls it 'a disaster waiting to happen.'
The bill, part of a 5-year pilot program, could also include Long Beach, West Hollywood, Palm Springs, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento.
