Boy Scout trailer stolen from church parking lot

Crooks stole a Boy Scout trailer from a church parking lot in Ball Ground. The scouts said the trailer was filled with thousands of dollars of equipment.

The trailer was parked next to the Ball Ground United Methodist Church. Police said sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, someone took off with it.

"They're stealing from the boys and whether they knew it was a Boy Scout trailer or not, they came on church property and stole from the church," said Scoutmaster Jim Reddy.

The trailer was packed with everything Troop 1755 uses on camping trips, from tents to cooking gear to medical bags.

"We lost probably $8,000 worth of equipment," said Reddy.

The boys worked hard to raise the money for the trailer and the equipment. They held fundraisers, sold popcorn and had car washes.

It took a lot of work and a lot of time, but eventually they had enough money to buy the 2000 Pace Arrow trailer. Now that it is gone, many of the troop's plans are crushed.

"We have to cancel our campouts, cooking events, and summer camp can't happen next year if we don't have our supplies," said Boy Scout Shaughn Reddy.

The trailer was painted all white. The tag number is TR 96088. If you see it, call police. They guys would really like to have it back.
