Bill Burr blasts insurance companies in LA fires rant

Bill Burr has a lot to say about the Los Angeles wildfires.

The actor and comedian appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday, where he wasted no time tearing into insurance companies, online "experts," looters, and Luigi Mangione - to name a few topics.

Like thousands of other residents, Burr shared he evacuated his home but "got lucky" when "the winds moved."

"I think everybody did a great job. Unlike the internet," he said.

Burr slammed so-called "internet experts" who claim to know more about the fire than the proper officials and authorities.

"Like some idiot on the internet knows how to manage the worst fire in LA? Sitting there in his underwear?" he said.

Burr also talked about making a "Sophie's Choice" with a previous helicopter purchase.

"I didn’t realize how expensive helicopters were so all I have is a two-seater," he told Kimmel, "and I didn’t want to have to make Sophie’s Choice with my family, so we all piled into the SUV like everybody else."

The cause of the fires is under investigation. Officials are looking into whether the Palisades Fire and a smaller fire on New Year's Day are connected, since both happened near the same area.

Multiple arrests have been made since the start of the fires, with at least two confirmed to be arson not related to the major wildfires. One of those suspects told police he started the fire because he "liked the smell of burning leaves."

"I love how all the chatter out there is about bans on illegal immigrants and homeless people lighting fires," Burr added.

"They light fires every day," he added. "They’re living outside, it’s f—ing cold."

But Burr said the focus should be on the insurance companies.

"You know, and then they’re talking about looting. But CNN and FOX News are not going to bring up the insurance companies that are just gonna keep everybody’s premiums and still give themselves a bonus," he said as the audience cheered him on.

Burr's comments come as reports surface calling out home insurance companies that dropped thousands of Los Angeles homeowners in the days leading up to the wildfires.

"Yes! Free Luigi!" he said, apparently referencing Luigi Mangione, who is accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Burr continued, "[The killer] wrote on the bullets why it happened." According to law enforcement, the bullets fired at Thompson were inscribed with the words "deny," "defend" and "depose," allegedly referencing the book of the same name about "Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It."

SUGGESTED: State Farm will offer policy renewals to LA homeowners affected by wildfires
