The name of the victim, who wasdescribed only as a male, was not immediately available. A witness estimated the vehicle was travelling at 80 miles-per-hour at the time of impact, according to the CHP.

The vehicle was described as a black, newer-model sedan, police said.The suspect continued northbound on Figueroa after the crash, a news videographer reported from the scene. The victim appeared to have been dragged one-and-a-half blocks from the point of impact, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Frank Gonzales.
