Arson fire causes $3 million in damage to LAUSD building, suspect sought

Arson investigators asked for the public’s help Thursday identifying a suspect who allegedly torched a building that belongs to the Los Angeles Unified School District causing approximately $3 million in damage.

Authorities released security video of the suspect last Thursday in the area of San Pedro Street and Pico Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. Investigators said that shortly before 2 p.m., the suspect lit a maintenance building on fire.

No one was hurt but the fire did cause an estimated $3 million dollars in property damage.

Investigators are asking anyone who has information or perhaps more video of the suspect or the fire, to please call the Los Angeles Fire Department Arson / Counter-Terrorism Section at 213-893-9800, or the Los Angeles School Police Department at 213-625-6631.
