Armed robbers target street vendors in East and South Los Angeles

Armed robbers pulled out a gun on defenseless street vendors early Thursday in East and South Los Angeles.

Two separate robberies were reported within a roughly two-hour period, authorities said. Investigators didn't know if the two incidents were connected, but said the suspects' descriptions matched in both cases.

One was reported around 12:30 a.m. near South Hooper Avenue and East 77th Street in South Los Angeles where a man and woman were robbed at gunpoint.

The owner of a taco truck parked on Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles was also robbed at gunpoint around 2:40 a.m.

All three suspects in the robberies were described as young Hispanic men wearing dark clothing.
