'American Idol' music director Rickey Minor on final season

When it comes to seeing talent and calling the success of musical artists ahead of time, Rickey Minor says he is spot on.

"I'm 100 percent."

Minor, the music director of "American Idol," appeared on Good Day LA Monday to talk about the final season of the long-running show.

He was previously the musical director and bandleader on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and has worked with dozens of superstars in the business, including Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Ray Charles and Whitney Houston (who was just 18 when they first met).

It's safe to say that Minor has a great vantage point for the top 10 contests competing on the show.

"For me, it's how to add value, how to make them better," he said. "So that's it for the contestants. I'm just there to make them better and make them more like themselves."
