9 human skulls reportedly found in Compton religious shop

Possible human skeletal remains were found Friday in a Hispanic religious shop in a strip mall in Compton.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were sent about 11 a.m. to the store, which is in a strip mall in the 1500 block of North Long Beach Boulevard.

"It is possible these remains are legally possessed skeletal specimens,'' according to a sheriff's statement.

Nine human skulls were among animal and human bones found at the shop, called Omi Relekun, according to reports from the scene.

The coroner's office was investigating the origin of the bones, sheriff's Deputy Ryan Rouzan said.
