4-year-old boy killed in boating accident on Lake Arrowhead

A 4-year-old boy from the San Fernando Valley was killed in a boating accident on Lake Arrowhead, in San Bernardino County, the coroner's office said Monday.

At 4:21 p.m. Saturday, Gideon Zilberstein of Woodland Hills was overrun by a boat, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

The boy was riding in the bow section of a boat, while it was pulling a water skier. When the skier fell, the boat's helm operator made a turn to retrieve the skier, Bozek said.

But the child fell over the side, and was then struck by the boat as it turned to retrieve the skier, she said.

The Arrowhead Lake Association sent patrolmen were dispatched to the scene about 4:20 p.m. Saturday, in response to a boating accident that occurred on Lake Arrowhead, said San Bernardino County Deputy Oliva Bozek, in an email to City News Service.

"The child suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,'' said Bozek, in the email.

Paramedics dispatched to the location pronounced Zilberstein dead at the scene at 4:33 p.m. Saturday.
