North Hills tragedy: Newborn baby, 2-year-old among 4 fatally shot in possible murder-suicide

LOS ANGELES – Investigators said family members made a horrific discovery in a San Fernando Valley neighborhood Wednesday night.

What we know:

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were called to the 16200 block of Londelius Street, located near the intersection of Woodley Avenue and Parthenia Street, in the North Hills area on Wednesday, May 27 around 8 p.m.

A family member reportedly called 911 to describe the horrific scene and once first responders arrived, four people inside the home were pronounced dead. Two of the victims were confirmed to be 6-days-old and 2-years-old. 

While it remains an active and open investigation, authorities said the shooting is being investigated as a murder-suicide. They believe the shooter is the children's mother. 

Victims identified

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the victims as 2-year-old Alec Basmajian, 31-year-old Khajag Basmajian and Ella Basmajian, who was only 6 days old. 

What they're saying:

"I just don’t understand," a neighbor said. "I hope people realize there is help."

What we don't know:

The mother's name has not been released.
