3 people seriously hurt after police chase of stolen truck ends in crash in Lake Balboa

A police chase involving a reported stolen truck Wednesday ended in a crash in Lake Balboa, resulting in serious injuries.

Police began pursuing a gray Toyota pickup truck Wednesday morning with three people inside, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

At 9:10 a.m., the truck collided with a Honda sedan at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Balboa Boulevard. Two people were trapped in separate vehicles from the crash and had to be extricated by emergency crews at the scene.

A total of three people were seriously hurt in the crash, and one person suffered minor injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Video from the scene showed three people being carried off on stretchers.

Their identities were not immediately released.

Both Vanowen Street and Balboa Boulevard were closed in the area to traffic while authorities investigate the crash.
