1 person killed when vehicle strikes bicycle, pole near downtown L.A.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - One person was killed and a second injured when a vehicle struck a bicycle and a pole tonight near downtown Los Angeles.

The crash was reported about 8:35 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Alameda Street, south of Washington Boulevard, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One person was found on a sidewalk and the other was briefly trapped in the vehicle before being freed by firefighters, Stewart said.

One patient was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital, but that individual's condition was not immediately available, Stewart said.
