1 man dead, 2 females wounded in Inglewood gang-related shooting, police say

A man was killed and two females were wounded in an apparent gang-related shooting early Tuesday morning in Inglewood, police said.

Officers responded to a call at 12:35 a.m. about a man trying to break into a home in the area of Yukon Avenue and 106th Street, said Inglewood police Lt. Neal Cochran.

Officers heard gunshots as they were pulling up, and upon entering the home, they found one man dead and two females suffering from gunshot wounds, Cochran said.

Authorities withheld the fatally wounded man's name, pending family notification. The females were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their ages and conditions were not immediately reported.

Two suspects were taken into custody a short time after the crime, and a third was taken into custody several hours later in the neighborhood, according to reports from the scene.

It wasn't immediately known if the victims and suspects knew one another.

Inglewood Mayor James Butts told reporters at the scene that he believes the suspects are gang members and the crime apparently was gang-related.
