1 killed, 3 injured in shooting near Standard hotel in DTLA

A fight between a suspect and four other people at a luxury hotel in downtown Los Angeles Sunday exploded into a shooting that left one person dead and three others wounded.

Police were dispatched at 2:20 a.m. to the Standard Hotel in the 500 block of Flower Street where they found four gunshot victims, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relation Section.

The shooting victims were rushed to an area hospital, Herrera said, where one of them was pronounced dead. The remaining three were listed in stable condition.

"We do not have any suspect description and there were no arrests," she said.

The altercation began on between the 10th and 12th floor of the hotel over access to a birthday party. The fight ended up in the lobby and eventually the parking lot, according to media outlets.

A gun was recovered from the scene and detectives hope surveillance footage will help identify and find the suspect.
