1 dead, 4 injured after carjacking, pursuit of teen suspect in Palmdale

A woman riding in a black SUV in Palmdale was struck and killed by a carjacked vehicle driven by a teenage girl, authorities said Monday.

Deputies responded a little after 2:20 p.m. Sunday to the 37100 block of 47th Street East regarding a carjacking which occurred by force, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.

Shortly thereafter, another deputy located the vehicle, initiating a vehicle pursuit. The crash occurred in the 40100 block of 10th Street West, where the suspect's stolen vehicle crashed into a black SUV with five people inside -- two adults, two teenage boys and an infant. Paramedics rushed the occupants to an area hospital, where the woman died from her injuries.

The conditions of the other occupants were not immediately known.

The driver of the allegedly stolen vehicle, a teenage girl, was also taken to an area hospital, where her condition was not immediately known, but officials said charges were pending.
