In Depth: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage month

On this episode of In Depth, we honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage month.

Segment One:

We look into the Mendez family’s class action lawsuit that helped to desegregate Orange County Schools, and highlight the re-emergence of Olvera Street after its shutdown during the pandemic.

Segment Two:

Laura Diaz talks about the illustrious career of Jaime Jarrin as Dodger announcer, and Gigi Graciette’s shares the story of the family behind Porto’s bakery. 

Segment Three:

Hal is joined by Documentary Producer Patricia Nazario who tells us about her new documentary "Backstreet to the American Dream."  The documentary highlights the role of food trucks from the traditional "lonchera" to the explosion of food trucks as mobile gourmet restaurants. She says that the social justice aspect of the documentary emerged as she focused on one family and their long-time taco truck business. 

Segment Four:

Hal promotes his podcast and we end with the trailer for "Backstreet to the American Dream."
