Fire crews battling Bogart brush fire in Cherry Valley
(FOX 11) - A brush fire reported Tuesday near Beaumont has scorched 1000 acres with ten percent containment and prompted mandatory evacuations, authorities said.
Dubbed the Bogart Fire, officials said it remains at a "rapid spread."
The evacuation center at the Albert A. Chatigny Senior Center, 1310 Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont will close at 10:00 p.m. The large animal shelter located at Noble Creek Park, 390 Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont has closed, and the small animal shelter located at 660 Orange Avenue in Beaumont will close tomorrow morning after the final animals are picked up by their owners.
Cal Fire investigators determined the fire to be human-caused.
Anyone with information or knowledge of activity near the north end of Winesap Avenue near the entrance gate to Bogart Park in Beaumont around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday is urged to call the Arson Hotline at (800) 633-2836.
All calls are anonymous.
