Now, LA is close to finalizing a deal for a program which would divert certain non-violent 9-1-1 calls to therapists from one of the cities top mental health facilities, the Didi Hirsch mental crisis centers. Nearly one and four people in the county have dealt with food insecurity since the coronavirus outbreak started, which was almost one year ago. The county has ramped up its efforts for food distribution and has provided nearly seven-million meals since April, serving about 400,000 residents. But there are still more people who need a lot of help. Helen Chavez, L. A County Associate Director of the Office of Emergency Management shares important information about what the county is doing to help those in need.
