Marge Hearn, widow of legendary Lakers announcer Chick Hearn, dies at 98

Margaret Hearn, widow of beloved Los Angeles Lakers broadcaster Chick Hearn, has died, the team announced Sunday.

Hearn, known as Marge, died Saturday night at age 98 of natural causes, according to the Lakers.

Lakers President and co-owner Jeanie Buss called Hearn "the First Lady of the Lakers.''

"We are very sad at the passing of our beloved Marge Hearn,'' Buss said. "We consider ourselves blessed and fortunate, however, to have had her be a part of the Lakers family for six decades.''

Lakers coach and former player Byron Scott said Hearn "was like everybody's mom, somebody you could trust.''

Chick Hearn died in 2002 at the age 85.

He and his wife were married in 1938.

Survivors include granddaughter Shannon Hearn and great-granddaughter Kayla Hearn-Newman.
