LA Kings, Staples Center to host 2017 NHL All-Star Game

The National Hockey League announced Saturday that Staples Center and the Los Angeles Kings will host the 2017 NHL All-Star Game.

The game will take place on Jan. 29, 2017, and is the highlight of All- Star Weekend Jan. 28-29, which also includes a skills competition and a fan fair.

"We are thrilled that the Kings and Staples Center will host such a fantastic event in 2017 and the weekend will be one of the true highlights of our 50th anniversary season,'' said Kings Alternate Governor Dan Beckerman. "... We will put forth all of our resources to truly make it a special game and weekend for both the hockey and sports community.''

The league's all-star game was last held at Staples Center in 2002.

Today's announcement was made in Nashville, site of the 2016 NHL All- Star Game, which takes place on Sunday.

Ticketing information for the 2017 game will be announced at a later date.
