Wreckless driving suspect in custody after crashing into home

A short pursuit in South Los Angeles ended when the suspect crashed his car into a home in the alley of Ascot Avenue between 48th and 49th streets.

Los Angeles police began pursuing the black Range Rover when they noticed the suspect was driving erratically.

The minute-long pursuit ended when the suspect turned down the alley, clipped another car and lost control. The Range Rover flipped and landed upside down in the kitchen of a home.

Police said the suspect then ran from the car and into another house. Officers set up a perimeter around the area and found the suspect a short time later.

The suspect described as a Hispanic male was injured in the earlier crash and taken to the hospital.

Police said they found a handgun outside the Range Rover they believe belonged to the suspect.

The home he crashed into has been red-tagged.
