NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - A woman was found stabbed on Sunday in the closet of a North Hollywood apartment and her husband was arrested later in the day for suspicion of murder, authorities said.
Coroner's officials released the name of a 48-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death. The woman was identified as Tanya Menchaca, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Menchaca's husband was later arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with her death, police said.
Officers were called at 1:50 a.m. to the 11300 block of Tiara St., Sgt. J. Murphy of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station said.
"They discovered a blood trail leading up to a bedroom," Murphy said. A woman in her late 40s was found dead inside a closet.
Officers searched the apartment and found three children unharmed and unaware of what had happened, he said. They were taken to the North Hollywood police station.
The woman's husband was found later in the day by Azusa police on the Foothill (210) Freeway "covered in blood and passed out," Murphy said. He was taken into custody.
