Woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run in Ontario

A Pomona woman was spotted driving back and forth and throwing garbage on a lawn over a love affair gone bad, and allegedly drove over and killed a neighbor who had confronted her about the racket, police said Sunday.

Tanya Quintero, 20, was suspected of vehicular manslaughter and hit and run, after allegedly running over and killing the Ontario man who had confronted her and two companions about throwing garbage from their car onto his neighbor's lawn.

The hit and run homicide took place about 1:35 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Laurel Avenue in Ontario, police Sgt. Jeff Higbee said.

Darryl Sevecino, 24, was found dead in his driveway by officers who had responded to a hit-and-run call at that location, Higbee continued.

Witnesses told police that two women and a man had been cruising back and forth at the house of an ex-boyfriend of one of the people in the car, playing loud music and throwing trash on the man's lawn, Higbee said.

After several trips past his house, Sevecino went out side to confront the driver while she was making a U-turn to make another run at his neighbor's house, Higbee added.

Quintero then allegedly hit Sevecino and fled the scene, Higbee said.

Police later found the suspect gray Honda Civic parked a short distance away, in the 100 block of East De Anza Circle, Higbee continued. Quintero and the other two people were found inside a house where the car was parked.

The three people were interviewed at the scene by police and Quintero was identified as the driver who struck and killed Sevecino and then fled the scene, Higbee said.

Quintero was arrested fro vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death. She was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on those charges.

Higbee said he did not yet know her bail amount. He also told City News Service the man whose house they were throwing garbage at was the boyfriend of the female passenger in the car.
