Woman, 26, killed in two-vehicle crash in South Los Angeles, DUI suspected

A 26-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the Hyde Park area of South Los Angeles that sent the vehicles into parked vehicles and a power pole and the driver of one of the vehicles was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Officers responded to a call of a vehicle into a pole near Crenshaw Boulevard and 50th Street about 12:30 a.m., where they located the victim, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined a driver going northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard struck the other vehicle, sending it into a pole, police said.

The driver of one of the vehicles was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, authorities said.

A news photographer at the scene said at least two parked cars at the location were also damaged in the crash.

The name of the victim was not released.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
