Wednesday's Child: Foster Care Counts

Each week, the Wednesday's Child program team is at the forefront to present a child or a sibling set in foster care with the hope of finding an adoptive family for them. In order to keep their faith going, many DCFS partner organizations are working behind the scene to help to improve the lives of youth in foster care.

This week, we would like to highlight such an organization, the Foster Care Counts. On this past Mother's Day, Foster Care Counts hosted its 10th annual Foster Mother's Day. We caught up with one of our Wednesday's Child adoptive families - the Cates and also several youths, including Rachel and Maggie Lin, who were once featured on Wednesday's Child program. Rachel and Maggie work for the non-profit and are very involved. Maggie has helped launch a spin off program, Foster Nation to empower and connect youth from foster care.

Actress Camryn Manheim and her actor son Milo Manheim were also among the volunteers. And founder, Jeanne Pritzker posed with a foster family to remind us of the need for foster homes.
