Suspects narrowly dodge traffic as they run across 210 freeway to evade police
UPLAND, Calif. - Six people were arrested after they ran across the 210 Freeway in Upland trying to evade police following a burglary.
According to the Upland Police Department, just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, they received a call of a burglary in progress at a Tesla dealership. The reporting party said they saw five people break into the building.
A K9 dog and a drone were requested to help in the search for the suspects.
An officer spotted a Camry with no plates on Campus Ave. and conducted a traffic stop. The officer discovered a loaded magazine in the car and said the driver couldn’t explain why he was in the area. The man was later detained.
Officers continued to search for the five remaining suspects. Video from their drone showed the suspects running towards a fence next to the freeway. They then jumped the fence and ran across all lanes of traffic, narrowly dodging cars.
Officers detained three of the suspects after a short foot pursuit. The two remaining suspects kept running, but were eventually detained.
In total, six suspects, all from LA County, were arrested and booked for felony commercial burglary and other charges.
