Three car fires in South LA, police search for possible arson suspect

City firefighters in the South Los Angeles area moved from one fire to another Friday morning-- all of them suspicious.

It all started at 62nd and San Pedro around 12:45 Friday morning when a trash bin was set on fire and the flames quickly spread to a parked minivan.

Moments later and 3.5 miles away, a car parked in a driveway at San Pedro and 111th was also set on fire. LA City firefighters put out the flames before it could spread to the house.

And then another car parked on 85th near Towne was also set on fire-- it appeared that something was put in this car's gas tank and that's how it started.

Arson investigators are looking into the three fires that all happened within about 20 minutes of each other.
