Thousands line up Hollywood Blvd. for biggest Christmas party in the country

For 86 years, the Hollywood Christmas Parade has been star-studded, animated and filled with excitement in true Hollywood fashion. Sunday night, the annual event didn't disappoint the thousands of people attending who were ready to kick of the Christmas holiday season.

Halloween and Thanksgiving have passed. It's Christmas time and what better way to ramp up the excitement than to attend the county's largest Christmas parade?

That was why parts of Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Orange Drive and Vine Street were blocked off.

The parade, which included more than 95 celebrities, started after 6:30 p.m.

The high-profile line-up included celebrities like producer Jermaine Dupri, Dr. Oz who served as the Grand Marshall and many other talk show hosts, actors and musical artists.

"I got to see CeeLo Green, which was cool," said Bruno Depina who was in town from Boston.

Dozens of floats rode in the spotlight on the red carpet. Some Carrie popular movie villains like "Joker" from Batman.

But much of the talent in the Hollywood bonanza was just downright entertaining.

"Star Wars," Rudy Lopez said this was his favorite act. "Watching the Star Wars characters come by."

The giant-size cartoon characters won over the hearts of kids in the crowd watching.

"My favorite part was Gumby," one little girl said.

For many people still visiting from out of town for the Thanksgiving break, the parade was held on the perfect day.

"I did have family come down and today was my friendsgiving and family showed up to surprise me," Blue Perez told FOX 11's Leah Uko. "So I decided to bring them out and show them the best way that Hollywood is and that's where we're at."
