Tearful vigil held for beloved mother of three killed in Vegas massacre
(FOX 11) - Side by side with candles mourners sang God Bless America in honor of Las Vegas shooting victim Lisa Patterson.
Lisa's husband of more than two decades says the song was one of her favorites. Sadly, it was sung at the Harvest Festival onstage about an hour before the deadly shooting erupted.
"She called me after the song was over in between a break and that was the last time that we talked." said Robert Patterson.
The family and hundreds of mourners gathered at Lomita City Hall to remember Lisa a wife, mother of three and dedicated community volunteer.
Patterson's two daughters 19 year-old Amber and 8 year-old Brooke fought back tears as they remembered their mom.
"My mom was an amazing woman she would just love to see everybody here today." said Brooke Patterson.
"She was the most amazing person... She cared for people... She had so much spunk..." said Amber Patterson.
Their father was equally as heartbroken and said this while fighting back tears.
"My heart goes out to every single family that is experiencing what I'm experiencing right now... I can't believe that there is so many families going through this right now... I really can't."
But the community has come to their aid. Offering prayers and a Gofundme page to help with expenses. So far, more than 78-thousand dollars has been raised.
Patterson says the outpouring of support has provided some comfort.
But he is still struggling to make sense of her death.
"She wasn't the one that was the one that was supposed to pass away first... I'm 8 years older than her... It's just devastating to me.... Absolutely devastating to me." cried Patterson.
