SWAT situation leads to officer-involved shooting in Anaheim, suspect dead

Police investigated an officer-involved shooting in Anaheim Thursday morning.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, the shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 500 block of N Harcourt Street.

The Anaheim Police Department SWAT team was assisting the Irvine Police Department on a search warrant with a barricaded suspect. During an initial search of the residence, Irvine Police discovered a loaded Ruger American Rifle, Anaheim Police said.

Anaheim police said officers encountered two suspects at the scene. At some point, one male suspect was struck by gunfire, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The second suspect was subdued with less-lethal rounds.

A third man at the home was taken into custody. Officials say that person was a "parolee-at-large."

The APD personnel involved in the shooting were equipped with body-worn cameras which were activated at the time of the shooting, authorities said. That video has not been released.

Both directions of Crescent Avenue between Cambria and Magnolia were closed for an unknown duration due to the investigation. It has since reopened.
