Suspect killed in deputy-involved shooting at Yorba Linda hotel

A man was shot and killed by an Orange County sheriff's deputy in the parking lot of a Yorba Linda hotel Monday, authorities said.

Around 1 p.m., sheriff's deputies were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America in the 22700 block of Oakcrest Circle, said Lt. Mark Stichter.

An adult male was inside, and he was shot in the course of the investigation, Stichter said.

He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

The department was not able to say if the man was armed or not, Stichter said.

The Orange County District Attorney is investigating the shooting.
