Suspect walks on freeway, carjacks BMW, leads deputies on chase, hides in hotel

A bizarre scene unfolds at a hotel in Montebello after a carjacker led deputies on a chase and then hid inside the building.

MONTEBELLO, Calif. - A bizarre scene unfolds at a hotel in Montebello after a carjacker led deputies on a chase and then hid inside the building.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a suspect walked on the 60 Freeway, stole a BMW sedan and began leading deputies on a pursuit Thursday during rush hour. The suspect eventually ditched the BMW outside the Fairfield Inn and Suites on San Gabriel Boulevard.

After barricading themselves in the hotel, deputies were eventually able to take a man in custody. LASD tells FOX 11 a woman was also placed in custody in connection to the chase and a third suspect, a male, is on the run.

Officials did not release the third suspect's identity or provide a description.
