Stabbing in Whittier sends Vons employee to hospital

WHITTIER, Calif. (FOX 11) - A Vons employee was stabbed in the parking lot of the grocery store located in the 15700 block of La Forge Street in Whittier Tuesday evening.

Whittier police say the employee was collecting carts when it appears the suspect approached the victim and got into an argument with the employee before stabbing him.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 18-20 years old, last seen wearing a black shirt. The suspect remains on the loose.

The attack happened at about 6 p.m.

The victim was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to the hospital but appears to be in stable condition, said police.

The investigation is ongoing. No further details were immediately known.
