Sixth dog found suffering from chemical burns

Another dog was found Friday night badly burned and roaming the streets, making it the sixth dog in the past month to suffer from some type of chemical burn.

A Chihuahua named Taco was found in Apple Valley with severe burns on his back. Officials said it appeared the burn injuries happened within the past few days by some kind of acid.

Taco was scheduled to have surgery Saturday morning to have the dead skin removed, animal control officials said.

This is the sixth dog in a month to suffer burn injuries, and two of them had to be euthanized.

A substantial reward has been offered for information leading to the person or people who have been burning the dogs.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to raise money for Taco's care, as well as another dog named Crissie brought to a Lancaster shelter suffering from similar injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control at (661) 974-8096 or call police.
