Santa Monica entrepreneurs 'TaskUs' win national honor

(Christine Devine, FOX 11)

You're how old?!  That was my reaction when meeting two entrepreneurs from Santa Monica. It was several years ago when the co-founders of TaskUs were NOMINEES for EY Entrepreneur of the Year - Los Angeles.

Now Jaspar Weir and Bryce Maddock are NATIONAL EY winners and only in their early 30s.

TaskUs launched in 2008 "before there was a Silicon Beach," Weir said. Now their office is not too far from the actual beach.
I met up with Weir for a tour.

TaskUs is on the property of the Santa Monica airport with a view of the runway and ocean!

And to think they got their start not too far away in the childhood home of Maddock.

TaskUs is described as tech-enabled business services. They provide the back up to websites and apps. They got their start with start up tech companies that needed support and services. You may know of some of their clients, MailChimp and Eventbrite.

Task Us now has 18,000 employees with a large workforce in the Phillipines. Anytime you as the customer have a web question, it might be a TaskUs employee messaging you back.

A wall-of-fame in the TaskUs office shows off their entrepreneurial accolades, honors like Inc.'s "30 under 30." In November, TaskUs took home top national honors winning EY National Entrepreneur of Year in business services.
