Santa Ana school district employee arrested for reportedly offering teens drugs

A 30-year-old employee with the Santa Ana Unified School District is behind bars accused of trying to lure a couple of teenage girls into his vehicle by offering them drugs.

Garden Grove police say Julio Lugo Torres, a resident of Garden Grove, approached the two girls in the parking lot of a business in the area of Fairview Street and Trask Avenue on Jan. 25, 2019 while driving a white Ford Explorer to ask them for directions to where he could purchase drugs.

Police say Torres then "attempted to coerce the victims into his vehicle by providing drugs to them."

The girls declined and took a photo of Torres' car before running away, according to authorities who say the teens' information to police led to Torres being arrested and booked into Orange County Jail.

During the investigation, Garden Grove police learned that Torres was employed by the Santa Ana Unified School District. Investigators are now looking for additional victims or witnesses.
