Santa Ana police officer hospitalized, suspect dead in officer-involved shooting
SANTA ANA, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A Santa Ana police officer was hospitalized Monday following an officer-involved shooting that claimed a suspect's life, authorities said.
The shooting took place at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Edinger Avenue and Sullivan Street, said Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertagna.
"Two officers contacted an individual in a car,'' Bertagna said. "A fight ensued and there was an officer-involved shooting.''
The suspect died at a hospital from a gunshot wound, he said. The officer's injuries -- how they were inflicted was not immediately disclosed -- were not life-threatening.
