Robin DiMaggio on performing with Prince: He was 'super humble'
LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Robin DiMaggio is a professional drummer and percussionist, who served as the musical director and drummer for the Arsenio Hall Show on CBS and worked with Prince during his career.
Following news of Prince's death on Thursday, DiMaggio stopped by Studio 11 LA to discuss what it was like to work with the pop singer -- someone he called "super humble."
"(Prince) complimented a lot and always gave a lot of love. And he was thankful. He always said thank you."
Thankful -- and a perfectionist. DiMaggio explained how Prince put countless hours into preparing for a performance.
"For me, having played with Bowie and Paul Simon for 25 years and stuff, it's like these guys came in and they wanted it perfect," DiMaggio said. "And on the Arsenio show, he would stay from 9 p.m. until 4 in the morning and mixed his entire segment to make sure it was the way he wanted to show his fans. And that's beautiful."
