Residents living near former Exide plant getting free blood tests

Supervisor Hilda L. Solis is pleased to announce that the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, in coordination with the Los Angeles Unified School District, will hold free blood lead level testing events for residents near the former Exide battery plant.

Supervisor Solis said, "The exposure to dangerously high levels of lead could be detrimental to the brain, kidneys, liver and other vital organs. I urge all residents to take advantage of the free blood lead level testing. Additionally, I will continue to call for immediate clean up action for properties, including schools, affected by the contamination."

The events will take place starting next week. For more information about the events and free blood lead testing, contact the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health hotline at 844-888-2290 or visit http://www.bloodleadtesting.com/
