Reported bomb found under car parked in Inglewood deemed a hoax, police say

A sheriff's bomb squad was called Sunday to what appeared to be a live bomb found under a vehicle in Inglewood, forcing area residents to evacuate, authorities said.

A woman flagged down police around 9:30 p.m. Sunday to report a suspicious car parked in the 700 block of West Beach Avenue with strange wires dangling from it, police said.

A bomb-sniffing dog was brought to the 2004 Acura sedan, which appeared to confirm there were explosives.

About 100 residents were evacuated from there homes immediately.

The reported device was then detonated at about 4:40 a.m. Monday.

Authorities later said no explosive material was found, but the device was rigged to appear as an improvised explosive device.
