Police arrest man accused of setting seven cars on fire in Ontario
ONTARIO, Calif. (FOX 11) - Ontario police have arrested a 27-year-old Riverside man accused of setting fire to seven cars in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 14 at a hotel located at 204 N. Vineyard Avenue.
Police say Matthew Toyotome was arrested at his home without incident and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for arson and stalking charges.
Toyotome was in town attending an anime convention over the weekend when according to police, he poured gasoline onto a vehicle he believed belonged to a female acquaintance and lit it on fire. The gasoline spread to six other vehicles engulfing them in flames before Ontario firefighters put out the flames.
The fire caused several hotel guests at the Folk Inn and Azure Hotel to evacuate. No one was injured. The incident was captured by hotel surveillance video released to the public by Ontario police.
