'Pack-rat' conditions reported as fire burns through Carson home

A man and a woman in their 70s were taken to the hospital after they were removed from their burning Carson home in cardiac arrest, a Los Angeles County Fire Department official said late Thursday.

The fire was reported at 10:20 p.m. Thursday in the 2500 block of East Adams Street, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman. The flames were out at 10:55 p.m.

The home reportedly had "extreme packrat conditions," Pittman said.
